Abstract: The latest 5th IPCC Assessment Report highlights the importance of decarbonising the energy sector but also demonstrates that agriculture is the industry with the highest global warming potential on a 20-year time horizon. Using examples from Australia and China, the presentation discusses positive trends in decarbonising energy. However, it also poses serous questions whether we are doing enough to prevent run-away climate change and temperature rises by not paying attention to the contribution of the livestock industry.
