Functional data analysis (FDA) has been developed rapidly during the past decade. It has been applied widely to address challenging problems in complex system, image analysis, medical research and other areas. Examples include fMRI, phonetics and motion data. In this talk, I will introduce some basic concepts of FDA and some interesting case studies including the research carried out by my team in Newcastle.
